We were on our way to Charleston and got on Yelp to find a local place. This was a big score. It's a total dump with incredible food and friendly southerners. We covered both fish and bbq and everything was incredible. If you really want to go local, this is your spot!
I went to D and B's on Tuesday, which is also when they have the 50 cent wings. The wings have a great flavor and they are seasoned to the bone. Make sure you stop here.
Owner Tyrone showed us some wonderful Southern hospitality. He made us weary travelers feel right at home.
We ordered some great comfort food. BBQ brisket, fried breaded shrimp, BBQ beans, hushpuppies, mac and cheese, etc. Everything was amazing! You could taste the love in every bite. It was all just filling and satisfying enough without being too heavy.
And the desserts in the cooler case. Let me tell you about it. All homemade pies and cakes. I had some slices to go of apple jelly cake, red velvet cake and strawberry shortcake. They were all very tasty, especially the apple jelly cake.
I highly recommend checking out this no frills restaurant. Stop by on your way to or from Florida!
If you want good southern home cooking then this is the spot. I visited this place for the first time yesterday and the food is absolutely amazing. It's the best soul food in the city! They have definitely gained a loyal customer. Can't wait to visit again.
Soulful flavors at d and b. I ordered the chopped pork and it did not disappoint. The sauce comes on the pork so if you want to add sauce as you like ask for it on the side.
Sides were delicious and flavorful. Mac and cheese was cheesy, so good.
The ladies serving today were personable. I ordered to go and had a reasonable wait.
